Mandy Thomas

Author, artist, poet, justice advocate, media-commentator

Through her voluntary work for Women’s Aid as a ‘survivor ambassador’ and by speaking at conferences on the issue, Mandy has done a lot to raise awareness of domestic abuse.  In 2014, this work was honoured when she received a Women of Power Award.

Mandy’s experiences informed the Radio 4 series The Archers recent domestic abuse storyline, for which she met with the actress who played the part of Helen.

Her new book You Can’t Run depicts Mandy’s personal experience of being trapped in abusive relationships. Mandy says it’s “the result of a year’s work and a lifetime of  trauma”. The book highlights where mistakes were made in the justice system and organisations involved with domestic violence.
